Laxman keen to make one-day return

One of the most analysed players in Indian cricket circles, VVS Laxman is trying to fight his way back into the one-day side.
Laxman performed reasonably well in the recent Test series against Pakistan, with 166 runs at an average of 41.50, but was left out of the one-day squad.
India, having drawn the Test series, then lost the one-dayers 4-2.
Laxman told the BBC: "I was disappointed after being dropped for the one-day series but I am sure I can perform well in the shorter version of the game.
"I have tried to perform consistently for the team. I have no problems in adapting myself to both versions of the game. I can bat in any position the team requires me."
His last one-day international match was in the one-off jubilee match against Pakistan in Calcutta in November 2004, when he scored 43 off 44 balls.
"It is difficult for me that I am not part of the one-day squad," he added. "Also, because I have won matches for India. I hope I can come back."
Ganguly support
Laxman, who tends to save his best performances for Test matches against Australia, is going to work on his fitness and try to make other improvements during the summer.
"I am interested to play county cricket during the summer but I have not decided anything so far," he added.
The biggest subject in Indian cricket is the captain, Sourav Ganguly, who is going through a tough time with batting form and bans from the International Cricket Council.
Laxman says Ganguly is strong enough to perform well in the future.
He said: "Sourav has done a tremendous job as a captain and I hope he will come back with a bang."
